What is the different between the Qigong for Energy
and Qigong for Healing videotapes?
The two tapes are actually quite different in scope.
The Qigong
for Energy tape is a collection of five stand-alone
Qigong forms that are considered to be excellent overall
"systemic" Qi balancing workouts. Each
can be done for anywhere from five to ten minutes and
provide for good effects. These forms are typically
done in China when one has only short time to devote
to doing Qigong and wants the most benefit. As
these energize/balance the whole body, they are complete
workouts in and of themselves. I do a few of these
every morning to tonify, mixing and matching forms throughout
the week as taught by my teachers in China.
The Qigong
for Healing tape is the complete Wuji Hundun Qigong system
as handed down by Master Duan of Beijing. This
is an 18-form system that in comprised of specific moves
for moving Qi in different body parts/areas/organs. As
it takes about 40 minutes to complete the whole workout,
it may not be right when time is an issue. I sometimes
select only a few of the moves to make it work within
a tight schedule, which is what Master Duan does as
well. These exercises are great for opening energy
blocks, especially in the shoulders, back and neck.
Both tapes close with a great set of Shaolin Qigong
self-massage techniques. These are quite useful
to help start the day
and to help with fatigue
at the end of a long work day
To me, the combined offerings of these tapes give a
wealth of tools that can be mixed together and applied
as your body/mind feel so inclined. From the Traditional
Chinese Medicine perspective, all pain and disease springs
from blocked or stagnant Qi (life force energy) in one
way or another. Finding the exercises that work
for YOU, that feel right for YOU, is the key to healing. Even
though someone may tell you a move is supposed to do
a certain thing, it may not be completely effective
for YOU. As our body/mind complex is pretty complex
and
interconnected, I have found that opening blocks in
one area/organ-system can lead to healing in what seems
like unrelated areas of the body/mind complex.
If you are still unsure of which way to start studying
Qigong with these videos, I'd suggest starting with
the Qigong
for Energy.
These Qigong tools are deceptively simple, yet quite
effective in opening Qi flow and promoting your natural
self-healing abilities.
